High pressure well northeast of the state will keep a light to moderate trade wind flow in place through Sunday. The trades will weaken during the first half of next week, with some deep tropical moisture overspreading the islands and resulting in some more unsettled weather. A more typical trade wind pattern will then return late next week as high pressure strengthens well to the north of the island chain.

A surface high to the north will keep trade winds blowing over the islands through the coming week. The trades will carry areas of tropical moisture over the islands while a passing low aloft will make the atmosphere unstable. This combination will keep the weather rainier than normal over much of the next week. Updated: 07/29/2016 9:37 am HST

Tropical Depression Darby will continue to bring unsettled weather to western portions of the state this morning as the system tracks northwestward and away from the Aloha state. Improving conditions are then expected to spread across the island chain from east to west through tonight. More typical trade wind weather will then return for the remainder of the work week as high pressure builds well northeast of the island chain. Updated: 07/25/2016 4:45 am HST

Deep tropical moisture will move over the islands from Sunday through Wednesday, fueling locally heavy showers for both windward and leeward areas. Trade winds will return Wednesday, possibly becoming breezy Thursday and Friday as the next tropical system approaches. Updated: 07/16/2016 3:40 am HST

A weak front northwest of the state will keep winds light through the weekend. This front will push slowly southward through Kauai and Oahu Sunday night and Memorial Day, before stalling out and dissipating over the central and eastern islands by mid week. High pressure will build north of the state in the wake of the front, allowing the trade winds to return for much of next week. Updated: 05/28/2016 3:53 am HST
